Wow – it’s almost as if this thing hasn’t been updated in over a year. Oh.. Wait… We’re still surviving!
Lots of travel for both me and Brian. I spent 10 days in Europe on a trip for work in January – Germany, Belgium and Austria. We had a weekend in Vienna so that was where we did most of the sight-seeing. I’d love to go back sometime to be able to spend more time exploring so that’s on our vacation radar. We’ll need to start saving now though because I was most definitely spoiled by my return flight in business class (the flight over in coach however? ugh).
We both made some trips to the plant in North Carolina and I spent time at the facility in Canada – not too far from the plant near Buffalo that Brian went to.
We also took a family vacation to Texas with Brian’s family. We spent a week at Lake LBJ (near-ish Austin) and it was a pretty low key and relaxing time. While we were gone we had a contractor begin demo of our first floor (kitchen, dining room, and living room area) to knock down some walls and re-do the kitchen. It’s pretty much done at this point (which really, it should be since it’s been over a year!!) but we still have some finishing touches. I LOVE it and am so very glad we went through with the project.
More travel in 2014 but this time with the family! Earlier this year we took Blake out of school for the week and took the kids to Disney World for mission “See all the Princesses”. We were pretty successful and even had the FastPass to see Anna and Elsa (which – how in the world did people wait 5 hours!!!) but only for me and Hannah… A bit of drama but Blake quickly got over it (crisis averted!!!).
I started a new job in May (new company, too) and have been enjoying it so far. I’m still doing project management but this time it’s for a specific department and all of the larger initiatives. Bonus about the new company is that I can wear jeans to work – which I don’t think I have yet but I’m guessing when the weather turns colder I will be. Right now I’m a fan of wearing jersey maxi dresses or skirts since it’s basically like wearing pajamas to work. Comfort first!
Brian coached Blake’s Pinto league baseball team this season – it was his first time coaching and I think he’s willing to do it again next year when it’s still not crazy competitive. After Pinto league though it gets nutty and the coaches go through a draft to create the teams. For 8-9 year olds. Seriously.
We also celebrated our 10th anniversary at the beginning of the month and I’m in the process of planning Brian’s 40th (wha?!?) birthday party for next month.
Blake will be starting second grade and Hannah will be starting kindergarten in just about a month. It’s crazy to think how quickly they’ve gone from tiny babies to little people with likes, dislikes, and opinions (and Hannah won’t be shy telling you her opinion!).
Here’s hoping I can get my act together again and start using this space to jot down the little things. They’re always fun to read through (I had a blast looking at some of them last night).
